Twanger PraxAx - Images & Info

Real strings Real Feel Real Effective
Picking Hand Practice - Anytime - Anywhere

Patented Twanger PraxAxs are hand made in Vermont, USA.

The wood base is usually native maple.  We also sometimes make them from  black walnut,  cherry, or ash.  The finish is either water based lacquer (clear or black) or oil.  Overall length is about 5 1/2 in. The wood base is about 3/8 in. thick. String guages are medium to light.  String spacings match standard instruments at typical right hand position (steel str git & banjo = 3/8 in, Nylon str git = 7/16 in, bass = 5/8 in).   Active string length is about 4 inches.  The strings are raised up above the base by solid plastic rods, either 3/16, 1/4 or 3/8 inch depending on the model.   Banjo and classical models have greater string clearance to allow room for finger picks and long nails.

A unique and compact string attachment system allows each string to be tuned independently for feel and pitch.

Black polypropylene adjustable web belt with quick release buckle is included. Amp Ready versions include Piezo pickup and 1/8 inch output jack for plugging in to practice amp or earphone amp.

"This is a great practice tool !  So much of the sound is generated from the right hand. All players could improve by really focusing on more right hand technique and the PraxAx is perfect for practicing anywhere and anytime. I use it from the plane to the train to the car to the woods. "

"It is by far the best means of developing right hand finger picking techniques ranging from flamenco to bluegrass. I've used my PraxAx everywhere. I've even had it at work to use during lunch. It is easily the single most effective practice device I've ever had, other than the guitar itself. As you know, classical/flamenco playing demands tremendous finger dexterity and coordination. In a unique way, the PraxAx helps in developing the discipline needed to accomplish this. In addition, I can use the PraxAx watching TV, while riding with a friend somewhere, waiting in line at the Motor Vehicles (ugh) , almost anywhere.  Thanks for such a practical and well thought out practice aid." John Wiley - Prescott Arizona age 49 playing for 35 yrs does gigs, teaches, records
